Bompas was originally a hostel for the Anglican children who came to attend Thomas Simpson School in the sixties. Once the small communities had their own Kindergarten to Grade Six schools, Bompas became the elementary building of the Federal Day School and then Thomas Simpson School.
In 1994-5 Bompas was renovated and opened as a separate Kindergarten to Grade Six school. It was named after the Anglican Bishop and his wife Charlotte who were spoken of highly for their community work.
Today the focus of the school is on improving literacy and numeracy . Social skills and community responsibility are developed through positive behaviour supports that encourage education staff and students to be a “Safe, Caring Team”.
